The Green Point Project

This challenging endeavor our clients, Kenneth and Fiona, led was nothing short of incredible and truly inspiring. The project is an exploration in biophilic design, built for those who demand a healthy, permanent relationship with the natural world.

We approached this durable sanctuary from first principles. Built to Passive House standards and achieving both Living Building Challenge Petal and Green Shores for Homes (Orca) certifications, it proves that a home can be a regenerative, affordable force for climate action.

The design is grounded in building science and biophilic truth:

  • Passive House Performance: A thermal bridge-free envelope and exacting airtightness deliver profound acoustic silence, unmatched thermal stability, and purified indoor air.
  • Living Building Challenge Petal: Designed to produce its own energy and operate in deep harmony with the Vancouver Island microclimate.
  • Material Honesty: Constructed entirely with non-toxic, natural, and salvaged materials. We avoided conventional synthetic finishes in favor of permanence and health.
  • Site Regeneration: The Green Shores approach actively rejuvenates the sensitive aquatic ecology of Cowichan Bay rather than merely occupying it.
